Culture

-- Xinjiang's culture is a lively mix of traditions from its many ethnic groups.
Here's a look at some of the cultural highlights

Sports and Games: Local sports like Buzkashi, or "Goat-Grabbing," are common. In this intense game, horse riders try to drop a goat carcass into a goal. It's a major part of many local celebrations.

Dance: Dance is a big part of life in Xinjiang. The Uyghur "Mashrap" is a popular event where people get together to dance to folk music. The "Eagle Dance" is another energetic dance that imitates the movements of an eagle.

Clothing: People in Xinjiang wear vibrant, colorful outfits that vary between different ethnic communities. Uyghur women often choose bright dresses with fancy scarves or hats, while men might wear a doppa, a beautifully embroidered cap.

Music: Xinjiang is famous for its unique music, which uses traditional instruments like the Dutar, a two-stringed lute. The music is often complex and reflects the region's history as a part of the Silk Road.
